Dimension 2.1: Achieving Expectations

The teacher supports all learners in their pursuit of high levels of academic and social-emotional success.

During our weather unit in science, my cooperating teacher proposed utilizing Project-Based Learning to demonstrate the students’ learning. This project satisfies this dimension because it required students to be self-regulating and accountable for the work they put into the project. A rubric was provided when the project was introduced to the students that explained how each group would receive a grade for their final presentation, but each team member would also have an individual score determined by their participation. After presenting their projects, every student evaluated their own participation as well as that of their team members on a Google Form. This represented student initiative and holding them to a higher standard.
