“Even though you can’t see it with your eyes, you can feel it with your heart and know that you are always connected to everyone you love.”

Genre: Fiction/Bedtime Story
Twins Liza and Jeremy are frightened by a storm and seek solace with their mother. She then consoles them by revealing the connection they share, even she isn’t physically present. This is a story of comfort.
Throughout the story, the children wonder about the reach of the String. Their mother reveals that it extends to friends and pets and can even reach across great distances, such as the bottom of the ocean or outer space. The children also learn that the String can reach their dead relatives, who still carry love for them in their hearts. The mother tells the children that the String never disappears because love is stronger than any emotion. Her love doesn’t disappear even if she is angry at them from time to time.
After being entirely comforted, the children return to their beds and are able to sleep despite the still raging storm outside. They realize in their dreams that everyone is connected and no one is alone.
This is a very heartwarming tale of anyone who feels distance with loved ones or any form of loneliness. That is why I put this particular story in the fear of loss category because it represents a way of coping with that fear and seeing that perhaps some people are never truly lost.
